Peter Wayne Lewis
Universal Vibrations

Universal Vibrations | Peter Wayne Lewis, explores the sensational work of Peter Wayne Lewis, a talented abstractionist and lover of music and imbues theoretical physics. Lewis draws from a childhood steeped in jazz melodies and infuses his works with a rhythmic vitality that echoes the pulsating harmonies of the universe.

Lewis turned to the cosmological for inspiration in recent years, becoming enamored with string theory and theoretical physics. String theory suggests that reality is composed of vibrating string-like quantum particles. In essence, the entire universe and everything in it has an underlying vibration, much like the vibrations of sound waves that ring out when plucking a guitar string. Lewis combines his fascination with the underlying vibrations of the universe and jazz music with his collection Bending Time. Movement is a crucial feature of his work, from the syncopated lines to the staccatoed stippling brushwork. Lewis's art embodies his observation of flowing rhythms and deep connection to life's tempos.

Bending Time Suite #5_9, 2018, 160x140 cm, is a poignant example of the relationship between the artist, music, and the cosmos. The lines weave around one another and intertwine on the dark canvas with flecks of red, white, and yellow paint that agitate the surface. The interwoven layers create a visual symphony akin to the harmonious vibrations that reverberate through space-time. As viewers immerse themselves in this captivating composition, they are invited to contemplate the interconnectedness of music, movement, and the underlying rhythms that shape our perceptual reality.

Universal Vibrations | Peter Wayne Lewis beckons us to tune into the unseen frequencies that permeate the universe, inviting a harmonious dialogue between art, scientific theory, and music.
