Oscar Eduardo De Paz
Between Boundaries

John William Gallery is pleased to announce the fifth Emerging Curatorial Platform exhibition, Between Boundaries: Oscar Eduardo de Paz, curated by Sasha-Kay Thompson.

Between Boundaries is a solo exhibition featuring the deeply introspective paintings of Oscar Eduardo de Paz. A talented artist from Chicago with Guatemalan heritage, de Paz explores the sociopolitical and ecological issues prevalent in today's capitalist society.

The artist's distinctive style and sociopolitical commentary make for a rich and profound show that explores the many facets of self-identity and the ways societal institutions influence our lives. Between Boundaries tells the story of self-exploration and the individual's navigation of life as we face the realities of capitalism, discrimination, and ecological disasters. Composition and color are key elements of the show that create an impressive balance between aesthetics and storytelling, which sparks a deep resonance within the viewer and allows for poignant discussions about society today.

The exhibition opens Friday, February 7, 2025, from 5:30 – 8:00 PM during February Art Loop, with a curator and artist talk at 6 PM. Come and join us for light refreshments, wine, free parking, and a whole lot of fantastic art!
